Over the past two decades, the nature and complexity of emergency management have increased significantly. Alongside this growth, there has been an even greater expansion in the use of information technologies (IT) and the corresponding need to protect them.

This course offers students an overview of cybersecurity and the threats facing organizations and critical national IT infrastructures. As cyberinfrastructure systems play an increasingly vital role in the economy, national defense, and daily life, cybersecurity has become a top priority. Cyberattacks—whether domestic or international—can now have consequences as severe as those caused by natural or man-made disasters.
